Makemusic, Inc. Releases Finale 2007

Linked Parts, Video Features and Intel-Based Macintosh Support Highlight the Powerful Upgrade

MINNEAPOLIS, 22 AUGUST 2006 — MakeMusic, Inc. announces the release of Finale® 2007 for Macintosh® and Windows® computers. This major upgrade of the world’s best-selling and most powerful music notation software includes a variety of new features designed to enhance productivity and offer unprecedented creative options for musicians, composers, students and educators.

Finale 2007 raises the bar for speed and ease of use. The new Linked Parts feature offers the ability to automatically create and format parts as a score is created; these parts are dynamically linked — always remaining perfectly in sync with the score — but only where this is desirable. The intelligent link knows when to enforce consistency and when to allow differences. Only Finale offers complete control, with the ability to create separate linked parts from a divisi staff in the score or to show different enharmonic spellings between the part and score.

The new program is the first music notation software that runs natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs, as well as Windows computers. In addition, users of both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs will experience new speed and redraw enhancements. KONTAKT™ Player 2 is integrated into Finale 2007, employing the latest technology to play back sounds from the award-winning Garritan Personal Orchestra®, which are included free of charge.

For film and video applications, integrated video support provides a new level of creative control. Imported digital video is automatically synchronized with notation as users compose, edit and play back their score.

Additional related features include Fit to Time, user-definable frame rates, the ability to write time code to the score and the option to send SMPTE/MTC to external devices — an option not found in other music notation software.

Latin Percussion offers another exclusive choice designed to stimulate creativity. Users can select from a wide variety of authentic rhythms — all correctly notated — and add them to any piece, instantly. High-quality Latin Percussion sounds ensure authenticity.

Additional cutting-edge highlights include enhanced Human Playback®, Update Brackets and Groups, Quick Change, Vertical Collision Remover, updated Playback Controls, enhanced positioning of cross-staff augmentation dots, improved pickup measures, enharmonic spelling in chromatically transposed parts and much more.

“The breadth of new features found in Finale 2007 offer multiple creative options that will help users expand their musical horizons,” said Ron Raup, Chief Marketing Officer, MakeMusic, Inc. “The powerful enhancements provide a new level of productivity for all users, and engraver-level features including Vertical Collision Remover and Update Brackets and Groups insure effortless perfection on the printed page.”

More features, additional details and the Finale 2007 Preview — a multimedia Flash presentation of Finale 2007 highlights — are available at www.finalemusic.com.
